Voting Information

It is the mission of the Circuit Clerk's Office to serve the citizens of Sangamon County and the participants of the judiciary system in a timely and cost-effective manner, providing all court records, information and services with courtesy, efficiency and impartiality.

We now have a new website as of July 1, 2008  for the Circuit Clerk's office.  New Features such as FREE Public Records Case Lookup and Court Schedules are now available.  We also offer most of our forms online.

We are working with the courts to become a pilot site for Electronic Filing or E-Filing.  This is a feature allowing attorneys to file cases online.

In order to assist the public with court issues we have produced half hour informational programs on many topics from civil cases to passports.  The videos feature State Officials, Circuit Judges, Local Attorneys, Agency Representatives and the Circuit Clerk and Staff.  These programs are broadcast locally on ACCESS 4 a Comcast Company.  DVDs of the programs will be available for FREE from the Clerk's Office.  Videos will also be available for download from our website in Adobe Flash format.  See the list of programs below.

A feature that we have recently added to the Circuit Clerk's website is E-Pay or Electronic Payments.  We can now accept payments by credit card for traffic citations online.  This is a great help to those who decide not to appear in court.

We are working on a new computer program to assist the Sangamon County States Attorneys, Judges and the public to reduce the amount of time spent in the courtroom for traffic cases.

Since the 1800's the office of the Circuit Clerk has had lots of paper files.  In an effort to reduce the amount of paper use, we have implemented a new program called 3G Scanning.  Case documents are electronically scanned and stored on disks.  Images can be be retrieved and displayed on a computer screen reducing the amount of time to locate paper documents.

We are working to provide services to the public outside of the court complex and the normal work week hours.  We now offer Saturday Passports on the First Saturday of every month 8:00 am - noon at Royal Oaks Nissan located at 4801 West Wabash.  We appreciate the fine folks at Royal Oaks for their help with this program.

On the first, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floors we have added screens to display names, court times and courtroom schedules.  It features a split screen that displays in alphabetical order non-traffic court cases on the left and traffic court cases on the right.

We have many more new programs in the works - if you have a suggestion, please Email me.  We are seeking to make it more convenient and cost effective for you.
